Christmas is a time of giving. In this post you can read a selection of Bible verses about giving.
Give to others, and God will give to you. Indeed, you will receive a full measure, a generous helping, poured into your hands—all that you can hold. The measure you use for others is the one that God will use for you.” (Luke 6:38)
You should each give, then, as you have decided, not with regret or out of a sense of duty; for God loves the one who gives gladly. (2 Corinthians 9:7)
The bigger the harvest the LORD gives you, the bigger your gift should be. (Deuteronomy 16:17)
The wicked borrow and never pay back,
but good people are generous with their gifts.
When you give to the poor, don’t let anyone know about it. Then your gift will be given in secret. Your Father knows what is done in secret, and he will reward you. (Matthew 6:3-4)
Suppose there are brothers or sisters who need clothes and don’t have enough to eat. What good is there in your saying to them, “God bless you! Keep warm and eat well!”—if you don’t give them the necessities of life? So it is with faith: if it is alone and includes no actions, then it is dead. (James 2:15-17)
Command those who are rich in the things of this life not to be proud, but to place their hope, not in such an uncertain thing as riches, but in God, who generously gives us everything for our enjoyment. Command them to do good, to be rich in good works, to be generous and ready to share with others. (1 Timothy 6:17-18)
But don’t forget to help others and to share your possessions with them. This too is like offering a sacrifice that pleases God. (Hebrews 13:16)
You should be happy to give the poor what they need, because then the LORD will make you successful in everything you do. (Deuteronomy 15:10)
I have shown you in all things that by working hard in this way we must help the weak, remembering the words that the Lord Jesus himself said, ‘There is more happiness in giving than in receiving.’” (Acts 20:35)
