In the Bible we can learn a lot about how to deal with money and wealth for our own provision and for the benefit of God rather than our personal greed.
Do not store up riches for yourselves here on earth, where moths and rust destroy, and robbers break in and steal. Instead, store up riches for yourselves in heaven, where moths and rust cannot destroy, and robbers cannot break in and steal. For your heart will always be where your riches are. (Matthew 6:19-21)
If you love money, you will never be satisfied; if you long to be rich, you will never get all you want. It is useless. (Ecclesiastes 5:10)
And he went on to say to them all, “Watch out and guard yourselves from every kind of greed; because your true life is not made up of the things you own, no matter how rich you may be.” (Luke 12:15)
Keep your lives free from the love of money, and be satisfied with what you have. For God has said, “I will never leave you; I will never abandon you.” (Hebrews 13:5)
You cannot be a slave of two masters; you will hate one and love the other; you will be loyal to one and despise the other. You cannot serve both God and money. (Matthew 6:24)
For the love of money is a source of all kinds of evil. Some have been so eager to have it that they have wandered away from the faith and have broken their hearts with many sorrows. (1 Timothy 6:10)
Honour the LORD by giving him
your money and the first part
of all your crops.
Then you will have
more grain and grapes
than you will ever need.
For this reason you must obey the authorities—not just because of God’s punishment, but also as a matter of conscience. That is also why you pay taxes, because the authorities are working for God when they fulfill their duties. Pay, then, what you owe them; pay them your personal and property taxes, and show respect and honor for them all. (Romans 13:5-7)
If we are rich and see others in need, yet close our hearts against them, how can we claim that we love God? (1 John 3:17)
The law that you gave means more to me than all the money in the world. (Psalm 119:72)
