Out of 8.3 million Israeli citizens, there are 1.7 million Arabs. Most of them are Muslims. I grew up with both Muslims and Jews. When I pray for the Kingdom of God to come to Israel, I always think of both Jews and Muslims, praying that God will bless them.
Recently, God gave me a wonderful opportunity to bless Rami, a Muslim maintenance worker. He comes to the Bible House in Nazareth twice a year. He always comes with a lot of questions about life. I prayed for Rami and asked the Lord to bless him.
One day, Rami came to us with another Muslim man to change the water filter. After he had done his job, he wanted to have a chat. We talked about the Society’s vision to reach out to Muslims. Rami had one simple question: do you have something holy to give to me? He wanted something that could protect him. He believed that if he put a holy item in his car it would solve his problems. He told me that the previous few months had been extremely strange. He believed that there were supernatural powers trying to hurt him and his family. A lot of bad things had happened in a short period of time, so he had decided to get an amulet to protect him from evil spirits. He was wearing an amulet around his neck and had two more at home.
I fetched a Bible and decided to explain to both men about the way the Bible addresses sorcery, magic and evil spirits. The Lord gave me the words I needed. I unpacked before them the evil of amulets and magic. I added that Jesus Christ is the only one who can conquer the kingdom of the devil and liberate all people. Then I asked Rami: do you want to be liberated? Do you believe that Jesus can help you? Do you want me to burn the amulet and entrust you to the full protection of Jesus Christ? Rami was waiting for my invitation. The Lord had been preparing his heart. Today Rami was willing to move one step further. He said: I want to be liberated and I believe that Jesus can help me. He took off his amulet and chose to be under the protection of Jesus. I took the amulet and gave it to my colleague Bassam to burn. The four of us then declared the liberation of Jesus Christ upon Rami. Then I gave Rami the Bible, the book of life and liberation from sin.
A week later, Bassam and I called Rami. He shared with us that his life had become very different after our prayer time. Now he had peace and joy in his heart. After we finished our phone call, Rami’s wife called me. She explained that the change in Rami’s life was genuine and visible. She thanked me and expressed an interest in continuing the conversation.
I thank God for this opportunity and many other opportunities when God uses the Bible House and its precious jewel, the Bible. Please remember us in your prayers and also pray for Rami and his family.
