You will hear Dominique’s thundering laughter long before you see him arrive. The big man with a beard is cracking jokes with somebody in the hallway. When you meet him he immediately imparts warmth and interest. Dominique is easy to talk to and has travelled the world many times over. With his exuberance he appears to the be the least fitting candidate for a stereotype of a Finance and Analysis Controller.
We close the door of the meeting room and start going down the agenda items. As colleagues begin with presentations Dominique pulls out a modest pad and starts drawing. As he scribbles his mind is attentively listening, proven by relevant comments he contributes. After an hour the meeting is dismissed and Dominique passes the drawing around. It is a comic about the Bible work we pursue.
Frequently, his images carry a fine irony about how God sees us and how different this is from how we see ourselves. In ministry work, especially, it is so easy to take yourself too seriously. It is no surprise Dominique’s relevant art is much adored by his co-workers. We place them here at weekly intervals so that your mind would also be refreshed and lifted. If “Comics by Dominique” tickles you feel free to share it in your circles.
